Rockwool: core material for insulated panels

A core made from rockwool is an alternative to polyurethane for insulated panels, especially when the focus is on fire protection.

Rockwool consists of artificially produced mineral fibres made of basalt, sand, limestone and even old glass.

Its temperature resistance can be as high as 1000 degrees celsius, a characteristic that can prevent a fire from spreading.

The monomers in the rockwool even show resistance to mold, rot and pests – an ideal component for insulated panels, or more precisely, their cores.
